I have a Lenovo Ideapad z570 that operates 100% fine on battery power but goes black with no activity on the hard drive indicator light when plugged into AC power.

Powercord is good. Replaced internal power jack. Replaced battery. I have taken out & re-inserted hard drive & RAM when replacing the power jack... still no change. The best I can describe the issue is that having the powercord plugged in "shorts" the hard drive or blocks it from engaging. All lights except the light that blinks with hard drive activity come on... fan runs, dvd drive responds... just black screen.

I've done 2 different resets... battery out hold down power button 30 secs.... also did 10 quick power button presses followed by a 30 sec hold down. Ive done these with and without the battery inserted, no change... again, the laptop operates 100% with no issues on battery power only.

Thx!

Hi
I can not turn on Dell Inspiron 3521 Laptop by pressing power button. No any sound comes. Just power led turn on and if AC adapter is connected battery light also on, nothing happened on the screen. I disconnected AC adapter, removed battery and pressed power btn around one minute. Then insert battery and connected AC adapter and then press power btn but no progress and same thing happen. I removed battery again (to off the power light [pressing power button for long time also no progress to power off]) and then off power led and kept laptop in the bag (at night). In the next day night (around after 12 hours) I just press the power button then suddenly turn on the laptop (normal way). Then I can work very nicely no at least small problem. I restarted laptop and try several times Restart also works fine. Then I shut down the laptop. But after shutdown I cannot turn on. Above problem happened. As this way (keeping laptop for 12 hours and then press power button) I could turn on laptop 3 times. I'm pretty sure I can turn on it next night. Could you please help me how to solve this problem.

Thanks..

Hello, Have HP Pavillion dv4T 1000 CTO, Entertainment computer, Vista OS. I know it's not the best OS but have gotten use to it. Has worked flawlessly since 7-2008. I spilled a small, teaspoon, of tea on the upper right crnr where the pwr button is. Unplugged it immediately & wiped it up quickly. Now on pwr up shows getting pwr but no display, no operation. Two leds flash I think 3 X. 1 top of keyboard on right near f10? another on lwr. lft. side a couple inches up. Took into shop to see what the flashing lights indicated. They say Probably means mother board is bad. Key here is probably. The flashing leds have to point to a direct problem but have searched the net & can't find answers. HP wants $100 just to talk with me. Was $2600 computer and HD is fine. Just need answers how to remove keyboard, basics on diss-assembly. Not ready to buy new laptop yet as this one has $1500 of programs + all my info. Is there a how to take apart site? & what do the flashing leds mean? please help.
