yesterday I slipped and dropped my Dell N5010, The distance was around 1 feet but it was a marbled floor,so....
Now my laptop turns off whenever it wants usually it takes around 30 seconds, right around the time the laptop asks me for the password, buts its not a hard n fast rule, after a couple of tries it remained on for 10 min , and was working fine , until it turned off.
tried removing the battery, holding the power button for 30 sec , removing AC power cord and than holding the power button, but these were temporary fixes, sometimes they worked sometimes not.
I removed the ac power cable and let it rest for a couple of hours, it started on great, so i just shut the lid, when I opened it , it was still running 2 hours later, i started using it and 15 min down the road voila, it shut down again, now its just a hit and miss, usually it shuts down automatically within the 30 sec period sometime a couple of minutes, miraculously right now its on...
Is my actually using the laptop might be the problem in the cases where it does remain on? and do you think reseating might help?
I really donot want to spend money replacing this.any help would be appreciated.

I have a dell xps15z

On starting it it loads for maybe five seconds then loses all power when plugged in to wall. It used to not load up but if you shook it it would I know terrible way to solve problem but now it won't even load for more than ten seconds. I've taken back of removed battery and held powe button for 1 minute to drain any electrical build up. But still nothing any ideas would be great.

I had this problem, I tried every tutorial I could find on the internet, and I followed every HP tutorial for my computer model.

I dont have alot of hardware knowledge so I didnt know what to do, but I really wanted my laptop to work so I just looked for loose conections or wierd stuff.

Then after 3 hours I found the problem, there was a damn loose screw under the CPU that was laying between two connections. I remowed it, now my computer is back to normal! :D
