If the laptop cannot find the system disk it’s possible you have a failed hard drive or corrupted operating system. You can test the hard drive with Hitachi’s drive fitness test, you’ll find a link to this utility in “Links” on the right side. If the hard drive fails test, replace it. If the hard drive passes test, try reinstalling the operating system using the recovery CD.

It might be a software related issue. You can try restoring the registry back to previous working state. It also could be a faulty hard drive or memory. Test the hard drive with Hitachi’s drive fitness test utility and memory with Memtest86+.

MY TOSHIBA LAPTOP TECRA 8000 I TURN IT ON AND IT GOES TO WINDOWS 98. WINDOW SHOWS UP THEN IT FREEZES THERE. WHAT CAN I DO TRIED REBOOTING AND TURNING IT OFF.
