Make sure the new battery is compatible with your laptop.
If your laptops works with the old battery and it charges and discharges, most likely there is nothing wrong with the motherboard and your problem is related to the new battery.

I bought new battery for Acer TravelMate 5600 (the approved replacement from Acer dealer – 14.8V Sanyo) and it gives me error “Incorrect battery…” when turning on the laptop – before loading Windows. If there is no AC connected then I cannot turn it on. I tried another battery – the same error. My old battery (2 years) was OK just was discharged in 10 minutes.
I found the same problem here posted couple of pages ago but no solution. Service says it need motherboard replacement – how come I should pay if it is working with old battery?
Anyone any idea? Thanks

just wanted to say thank you to whoever runs this website because i was on my mothers laptop and i ran into a problem and she would have killed me if i messed up her laptop and thanks to this web site i fixed it!

Acer Ferrari 3400 LT

When Laptop on AC power or on battery and switched on, Lights come on( Activity LED, HDD LED, Wireless LED). The Activity LED constantly goes from green to orange and there’s no display either. The weird think is if you switch it off “by force”, remove the AC and then put it back; the LT goes on all on its own.
I already tried the solutions mentioned above; used a external monitor, replaced & tested the RAM modules, tested the battery and the AC adapter:::Those seem to be all fine so I suspect the issue to be either a faulty Mainboard or CPU.

There are no service manuals for any Acer Notebooks on the link provided.

Cheers Simon, I’ve tried the F10 method and nothing happens. I’ve contacted Acer who suggested the restore disk……. which they no longer sell/stock or have any ideas where I can find one. Never mind, thanks for your time.

Hi, regarding recovery on the Acer 2500… if the hard drive is the original one from new, it may have a recovery partition on it. If so, I think F10 or Alt+F10 pressed during post should initiate the recovery procedure. Be aware that this will completely erase any existing data on your hard drive.

I have an Acer travelmate 2500. Three weeks ago I went to turn it on and received a message on a black screen “ntldr are missing” I contacted acer for a restore disk only to be told they no long stock them. Does anyone know where I can get one?
