I have a Dell Inspiron B130. I’ve read most the comments and I think the problem is the inverter but want to make sure.
Out of the blue the screen started getting a red tint. If I closed the screen and reopend it would go away but quickly come back. Finally the screen went blank but I could see windows in the back ground if I held the laptop in the right light. It works perfectly when connected to an external monitor.

Do I need to replace the inverter or the entire screen? and
Is this a common problem in the Inspiron series?
    Thanks

    Don Hensel,

I have reloaded windows to start from scratch and it is still very slow.

I would test the hard drive. It’s possible that the hard drive is going bad and because of that your laptop is very slow. Most likely that’s your problem. You can use Hitachi’s driver fitness test, you will find a link in Resources on the right side.

I have a Dell Inspiron 2650 that is very very slow. Reminds me of the 1990’s CPU’s. I have reloaded windows to start from scratch and it is still very slow. Is there something I am missing here? When I got it in 02 it was much faster than today. Can someone offer some advice to get this computer up to par?

I have a Dell Inspirion 9300 which has been working just fine until yesterday, when it started giving some beeping sounds like radio static, today it gave that sound and the an error message came up on the screen saying that the laptop has to be turned off to prevent computer damage. Since then the laptop doesnt come on, actually when you start it normally, the lights all flash on and then flash off without the computer starting unless you hold on to the start button for a long time and then it starts but after sometimes it makes that beeping sounds and then switches off. I have removed the battery and started it with ac and it still gives the same problem. Can someone help me?
