    Wendell,

the red cursor button in the center of the keyboard and also the cursor pads do not function.

It’s possible that both pointing devices are disabled and you have to simply enable them.
Check the BIOS settings, it’s possible that you can enable/disable internal pointing devices in there. Also, check settings for the touchpad in the control panel. Make sure both devices are enabled.

all of a sudden when I turn on my Dell 1150 Inspirion, I get a black screen that says decreased available memory, push F1. I use computers but have no idea how to reset bios, or remove sticks..or whatever else..hahahhaha….can anyone explain to me like I’m 5 what I need to do. The computer just hangs too. When I go into system, it says cache memory 128..and the other memory 128…I have 512. Opened up the back and stared at it….didn’t fix the problem..hahaha

    Maria,

what causes the circular static lines on the screen. Sometimes it would just be a red dot in the center. I can see that it causes the pictures that Im looking at with different staticky red lines on them.

Test the laptop with an external monitor. Find out if you have the same problem with images on the external monitor.
If external video is fine and this problem appears only on the laptop screen, the problem could be related to the LCD screen/video cable.
If the same defect appears on both screens, internal and external, this could be a software related problem. Maybe the video driver got corrupted or something else is going on with software. Try reinstalling the video driver and if it doesn’t help, reinstall the operating system. Also, there could be something wrong with the graphics card.

I can see that it causes the pictures that Im looking at with different staticky red lines on them. Please help….

backup your hard drive using a bootable backup software into a USB stick or HD, then when you format the HD (install Windows XP Professional SP2) and do the setup and all that restore all the files back to your computer. There? Easy!

    Danny,

the last couple of days when i boot up it displays a message ” your battery is charging normally but is nearing the end of its life ” just prior to stopping i noticed that the battery charge led was flashing orange

Remove the battery from the laptop and try starting it just from the AC adapter. Will it start at all? Can you see and LED lights on the laptop when you plug the AC adapter and turn on the laptop? I think that the AC adapter is bad.
