In regards to Jon’s c640 hinge problem. Yes they can be tightened. Lay the screen back all the way (should do this on its own) and remove the screen bezel and the hinge covers. You’ll see where the pintle part of the hinge (the thinner bit with the two rivets through one end) goes through a thicker black collar. Grab the collar carefully with a set of side cutters and squeeze. You will need to do this a couple of times along the collar, being careful not to damage any surrounding structure. The left hand hinge has the LCD connection ribbon so DON’T squeeze the ribbon!!!
Try the hinge movement between squeezes and you’ll get some idea of how you’re progressing. It’s a bit of a hammer and anvil fix but it works if you don’t go nuts and cut the hinge off.

ken, low,
If your laptop can handle 60GB hard drive, then you shouldn’t have any problem upgrading it to 120GB.

I have a Dell Inspiron 9400, 22 months old. It only runs in Safe Mode because Windows shut it down due to the following problem.
Error message: -
Extended Test - Service Tag FBDZ2BX
Error Code 5300:0119
Msg. Detected a failure which writing and reading video memory. Video Mode 4h(320×2004) ADDRESS B8044h, expected to read FFFFFFFFh bu read FFFFFFEFh instead, The given error code and message can be used by Dell Tech Support to help diagnose the problem.
I thought the problem may have been caused by an application i recently downloaded, Freevideo converter YouTube to Ipod that i have since removed.
Dell Hong Kong unwilling to help, keep on passing the buck - Support ask me to contact Sales, when i don’t know what the real problem is. HK Dell Support is all about $$$ first.
Please tell me what is involved with the repair, do I have to replace the motherboard? Thank you in advance.
