dell inspiron 1200 hard drive how to removed
February 10th, 2010 at 11:41 pm
Dutty,
It’s hard to tell. Could be software or hardware failure.
1. Back up all personal files.
2. Reinstall Windows OS from the recovery disc (installation CD).
3. If the problem is still exists, it’s possible the hard drive is failing and has to be replaced.

Dell Inspiron 6400
PA-12 Power Adapter Error message & Battery Not Charging.
After much research I have solved this problem. The reason
that the AC Adaptor will power the laptop but won’t charge the battery is that in the AC Adaptor puts out a signal from the
adaptor to the laptop charging circuit that lets the laptop identify the adaptor and turns on the charging circuit.
When you look at the adaptor plug that connects to the laptop,
there is:
1. an outer shield DC-,
2. an inner shield DC+, and
3. the inner pin in the middle of the plug. The signal that comes from the AC adaptor goes thru this pin to the laptop.
Here is the answer.
The problem is the wire inside the cable has been broken off
the connection to the center pin. The FIX is either:
1. Buy a new AC adaptor,
2. Cutoff the connector, remove all the rubber from connector,
then trim back and remove the covering from the end of the
cable, (where the connector was cut off) then resolder
the little wire back to the center pin, then reconnect the
existing + and – connections from the cable to the connector.
Observe good soldering of the wires connected back as
not to melt the insulation of any of the wires.
When finished, use meter to check for shorts before you
reconnect power. Also if you have any heat Srink tubing
apply it over everything you just soldered. Otherwise use
Electrical tape.
BE CAREFUL AND DON’T WORK ON THE ADAPTOR WITH AC POWER ON.
AND DON’T FORGET TO CHECK THE POLARITY OF THE +++PLUS+++
AND —MINUS— WIRES.
3. Go on EBAY an find a new cable that goes between the
adaptor and laptop and replace it.
After the repair the battery charged to 100%.

Mark Stevenson,
1. Could be bad AC adapter. Maybe it’s not working properly. Try replacing the AC adapter first.
2. If you get the same problem with a new adapter, most likely this is motherboard failure. You’ll have to replace the motherboard.

I have a Dell Latitude D510. It was working fine but the following problem has occured. When switching on , all the led’s light up for about 3 or 4 seconds then switch off. I cannot get the pc to switch on. I have checked the RAM and even replace the DIMM with no success. I have also disassembled the whole laptop and checked all connections with now success. I have a small pc repair business, so I am familiar with the technicalities and repair techniques. Please advise
Many thanks

Dell inspiron 1000 screen blacks out when (even slightly) adjusting position of screen towards close or open. The HD LED and power LED stay lit. No HD spin or fan. 3-finger salute does nothing. Can only do hard shut down and power up to revive. I have no problem if I just touch or squeeze the display; only problem when pivoting on hinges or when shaking the desk enough to adjust the display’s position. If it’s open at 90 degrees, for example, and I then open it to 91 degrees or close it to 89 degrees, display and fan shut off. As if sleeping. I exposed the hinges and made sure the sleep switch is not being triggered. Could it be a short in the cable running from the system board to the display? if so, where to get it and how to replace?
I’d appreciate any thoughts before I send it to Dell hell (recycling center)?
Thanks

I have a Dell Inspiron 2200. When starting the machine the Dell logo briefly flashes up on the screen. The hard drive continues to run and I can only barely see my desktop by holding a flash light/torch very close to the screen. I have tried adjusting the brightness, but to no avail.
Any ideas or help, much appreciated.

” I think you’ll have to replace the motherboard.”
cj2600 it may be a faulty connector, try reseating the HDD. If it is a bad solder joint or a hairline crack in a track a trick i used to use was open the machine and get the room dark. Then press the board in the place where you think the problem lies\. if you are lucky you may see a spark where the break is, then you can bridge it with a piece of wire. Only works where there is a good current flowing, and watch out for any areas of high voltage.
