The following laptop step-by-step disassembly manuals I have created myself. You can use them if you have a Toshiba laptop and want to repair or upgrade it yourself. You shouldn’t disassemble your laptop if you have no experience with computers because you can easily damage it. Also, you shouldn’t open it if the laptop is still under warranty. I’m still developing new laptop teardown guides and my goal is to add new guides every week. If you do not see a manual for your model, most likely I will add it later. Stay tuned.

I have a Satellite 1905-S301 and just got a wifi card for it. The system had the antenna installed but no card. I installed the card and driver and that worked. The card came up and the drivers installed. The problem I am having is that the card will not enable. When I try to turn the wireless on in the Intel PROSet untilty, it says “The Intel PROSet Wireless Network Connection is still disabled. Use your hardware switch to enable it.” The hardware switch is on, however. Did I do something wrong installing the card, or is there anything else I can do. I found a fix that said to disable pin 13 on the wireless card, which I did, however then it just didn’t detect the card.

    Thanks!

    LeAndre,

Toshiba Portage M205 locks up. When I leave it off for a couple days it boot a little further. Today I was able to get online but it locked up a few minutes after making the connection. What could be causing this?

First, I would try replacing memory with another known good module and test the laptop again.
Also, run diagnostic test on the hard drive. You can use Hitachi’s drive fitness test.

    LeAndre,

I was using my Toshiba r15 closed the lid heard a crunch. Opened it back up heard another crunch. The hinge was protruding through the plastic. Do you see alot of problems like this with the hinges on the tablet?

Yep, I’ve seen a lot of Satellite R15 Tablet PCs with a problem like that. It looks like the hinge is not very durable.
In this case I replace the whole cover assembly witch includes top cover, LCD cover, hinge and video cable.

    Joe,

Do you or anyone else have any tips on taking apart a Tecra A8? Is there a model that you already have a guide for that is similar?

I’m working on a guide for Tecra A9. I think it’s similar to Tecra A8 but I haven’t finished it yet.

I started removing the screws from the bottom, but stopped when I realized it was probably more complicated than I bargained for.

Also, there are some screws under the keyboard. They have to be removed too.

My fan is constantly running full blast, under minimal applications, but it’s been doing that ever since I bought it new a year ago. I just want to clean off the fan/heatsink and add new thermal compound.

Try cleaning the fan without disassembling the laptop. Buy a can of compressed air and spray it inside the air intake on the laptop. You can replace thermal grease later.

    Go,

Hi my Toshiba P100’s screen has line of dead pixel (line across the screen when in black) and I”m considering of ordering a replacement screen. Just wondering if there is any manual for it.

Take a look at the LCD removal instructions for Satellite P205, should be similar to P105.
