I want to replace a failed part in the Toshiba laptop myself. How can I find the part number?
If your Toshiba laptop is not under warranty anymore and you have decided to open and repair it yourself , then you should know how to find a part number for the laptop part you want to replace. Almost every part and cable in Toshiba laptops has its own part number and should be replaced only with the same part or a substitute part. To find the part number look for a sticker or for a sign on the part. Toshiba part number would be something like V000040870, A000004270, P000343780, etc. After you find the part number you can search here.
If you cannot find a part number for your Toshiba laptop, I can help you. Just leave me a comment with the part name you are looking for, the laptop model name and the laptop model number. For example: laptop model name Toshiba Satellite A75-S211 and laptop model number PSA70U-0WK00G. This information is located on the sticker on the bottom of your laptop.
I would be able to help to find a part number only for laptops sold in the USA.
Here are more tips for finding a correct part for your notebook.
UPDATE:
I just started a new project - free laptop repair related classifieds.
You can see this site here: Any Notebook Part

You can request parts too, maybe somebody has them for sale.

Keith,
Could be anything and I don’t think it’s possible to troubleshoot these kind of problems over the internet. The description is too general. Could be a problem with the motherboard.

Sherman Ragbir,
Toshiba has two motherboards listed for this laptop: P000415760 and P000454980. I’m not sure if they are interchangeable. Most likely the second one will be backward compatible with the first one but this is just a guess. You’ll have to ask this question the seller.
By the way, before you replace the motherboard I want’ you to read this post:
Toshiba Qosmio F15-AV201 has a video problem where it only runs in 4 bit mode with vertical lines on the screen
Make sure to read through all comments. I think you can get free repair.

RD of houston,
Here is part numbers for the internal floppy drive: P000236110, P000226820
But in order to mount it inside the laptop you’ll need 5 other parts (brackets and cable). I would try using an external floppy drive, it will save you time and money.
Search for “Toshiba Satellite Pro external floppy” here. You’ll find if for about $10.

lus,
You can use the following screens: V000070540 and V000070050.
Google for the part number and find the seller.

I have an Toshiba M45 that powers on for just a second or so and shuts down. Originally it would run for a couple of hours and then shut down but would restart. Now when I push the power button the blue lights illuminates for a second and then goes off. Seems this is a common problem and was told the repair would be easy for me to complete but I need to know what part it might be. I’m not real good at troubleshooting the motherboard but I can solder all day long. Is there any way you could tell me which part I might have to replace and what it looks like or where it is located.
Thanks
Keith

about the Toshiba Sat Pro 430 cds. I meant the floppy drive. What is the part number for the internal floppy drive and the external floppy drive. The internal can be swapped with the cd-rom. I have the cd-rom, but not the swappable floppy drive. I would like to know what this part number is.
How did you find out about the part number? Is there a website or manual that I can check? My used computer didn’t come with a service manual. Can I download the service manual somewhere in case I need part numbers for failed or missing parts for my laptop.
thanks.
bye!

RD of houston,
What do you mean by the disk drive. Are you looking for the external hard drive or external DVD drive?
By the way, you can use internal CD-ROM drive: P000225140 or P000234950

Kurai Kitsune,
I cannot help you with your laptop, it’s not USA model.
Take a look at the back side of the LCD screen, most likely you’ll find a sticker with the part number.
