kumuyu musyoka,

my toshiba laptop is not displaying anything harddisk led is showing an activity, nothing is displaying, laptop comes on,help!!!!!!!!!!

Could be memory failure.
1. Try reseating memory modules.
2. Try moving the memory module from one slot to another.
3. If you have two modules installed, test the laptop with each module separately.

Justin,

problem is a very dim LCD. If I play with the brightness controls, it does dim the LCD further, just will not go brighter. Someone already pulled the bezel apart from the LCD and I see the backlight illuminating.

That's a strange failure or maybe I'm missing something. So you can make it dimmer but not brighter?
Have you tried using Fn+F8 keyboard shortcut? Press and hold down the Fn key and at the same time tap on the F8 key. Will it make any difference?

I'm guestimating that the backlight doesn't put out the lumins it once did and requires replacing. Your assessment would be appreciative.

Quinn,

BUT multiple times you refer the yellow flashing light code error, as a mother board replacement…is there anyway to trouble shoot the board to find where on the power pathways a componant would have a fail by design failsafe, to minimize damage?

Unfortunately I cannot help you with that. I don't fix motherboards on the component level. If the motherboard is bad replace it.

cj2600, I have gleened much from this site, BUT multiple times you refer the yellow flashing light code error, as a mother board replacement...is there anyway to trouble shoot the board to find where on the power pathways a componant would have a fail by design failsafe, to minimize damage?

I have a tosh sat 1415-S173 that has new ram, new HD, good batt all tested and charged on my 2405-S201, AC plugged in...nothing...batt causes yellow code. it is clean inside, no liquid damage...Also the 3 backup disks, will they format the new HD? I really want to fix these both up to donate to a halfway house for men out of prison. The 2405-S201 SCSI target ID for the SD slot, and the DVD/CDR both show 0... both power up but do not read, rather they ask for media to be incerted.

Grace to you, neighbor

binu,

I am ready to buy a new motherboard for my make p100-429 toshiba satellite. Model number is PSPA3E-18K026EN.Can u suggest the part number for my motherboard?

I can help only with laptop sold in the USA. I think you can find the part number in the memory compartment.
Remove memory modules and search for a white sticker. The motherboard part number could be printed on that sticker.

my two year old toshiba laptop not showing anything on POST. It remains blank white on POST and shows display from the vista logo.

This is a very strange failure. Does it work fine after the Vista logo?

Mark,

my 6 year old Satellite P25-S605 is displaying classic video card symptoms-So, I bow to the inevitable and am ready to buy a systemboard for this aged BEAST of a machine. The specific part # is a PSP2OU-012RJR. My question is this- which of the P25 motherboards can I use

There are two motherboards listed for this model, both have 64MB video RAM:
1. Full featured motherboard with part number: K000006610
2. Motherboard without CIR with part number: K000009310 (not sure what CIR is but it's cheaper than the first motherboard).
You can find the part number on your motherboard in the memory compartment. Remove memory modules and you should see the sticker with the motherboard part number.

whether or not I can replace what I have w/ a board w/better vid? I’m willing to keep useing this ox ,but most of the programs i use would work much better w/128m of vid ram.

Some Satellite P25 laptops had motherboard with 128MB video ram. I think you can use on of these boards if you can find it. Here are part numbers for motherboards with 128MB video memory:
1. Motherboard without CIR: K000014070
2. Motherboard with CIR: K000014050
