Most likely the battery is bad and has to be replaced.

Amanda,

I have a Toshiba Satellite A215. My battery is completely drained now, but the last time it worked I remember plugging it in and noticing that it was not charging. After the battery was drained, I plugged in the power cord again and nothing happened (usually the battery lights up).

Probably bad AC adapter. The adapter died while you were using the laptop and the laptop works until the battery had charge. Now the laptop will not turn on because it's not getting any power from the adapter and the battery is drained.
Test the AC power adapter with a voltmeter, if you can.
Try replacing the AC adapter with a new one.

Occasionally my dog has tripped on the cord and pulled it out of the A/C adapter socket on the laptop. Could this have disconnected something?

It's possible the dog damaged the adapter cord.

Is there anything I can do to repair this, or is this a repair shop job?

You can try replacing the AC adapter yourself. If it doesn't fix the problem, you'll have to take the laptop to the repair shop.

We have a Toshiba satellite m55-s325. It just shut down on it's own, it would turn in for about 1 min then shut down again. Also no battery was detected even though there was a battery in it. So we thought it was the battery, bought a new one plug it in overnight. Plug indicatar was blue. In the morning nothing wouldn't even turn on. Now the blue plug indicatar blinks when we plug in the AC adaptar.

Hi!
First=> I want to say you are a REALLY Great person to help all of us!! Thank you!

Second=> I have a Toshiba Satellite A200 (Vista 32 bits), and I had the same problem as everyone else so I bought a new battery, and now the problem is that my computer won't charge it.
Before I had the new battery I would just remove the old one because my computer wouldn't start, so I would plug it with the ac power cord and it would work just fine.
Now I can't put the battery in without draining it down(even if it's plug up),
so the big question is: Can it be repaired? if so how much could it cost me, approximately? because I'm broke just by buying this new battery ... I hope the issue it's not the motherboard, i hope it something with the connectivity or the wire

and they're not third, but I want to thank you in advance!!!
Have a great day! :)
