anil,
If your laptop turns on but nothing appears on the screen, there could be a problem with the laptop memory. Try reseating the memory module. Try moving it into the empty slot. Try replacing the memory module with another working module.

David,
First of all, try using IBM recovery. I believe you can access the recovery interface by pressing F11 key as soon as IBM logo appears on the screen. It’s possible the hidden recovery partition is still on the hard drive and you can reinstall Windows from there.
If the recovery partition was deleted, you’ll have to find recovery discs for your laptop or install generic copy of XP and then download missing drivers from the IBM (Lenovo) website.

liezel,
Try using Windows System Restore utility and revert your system back to the previous restore point.

I have aquired a IBM R31 ThinkPad and it seem like the hard drive had been wipe clean of all hard disk drives. It also do not have Window XP, operating system software. It has a 20 gigabyte hard drive and the battery do not hold a charge. Re-installing those software, it that something I can do, or do I need to have a professional do it, and is it worth the while?
