Here’s a good way to find inexpensive spare parts for your laptop or notebook computer. In most cases laptop parts are not interchangeable (except memory and hard drives) and it’s very important to use a correct part for repair or your computer will not work properly. You should search for spare parts by the part number.
1. Finding part number.
SparePartsWarehouse can help you to find the part number. On this website you can search for notebook parts by vendor. You’ll find part numbers for Compaq, HP, IBM, Sony and Toshiba notebooks.
Select your vendor/model line, choose laptop series and choose the laptop model. After that you can search through the entire list of parts for your laptop or just use the filtering tool to find a particular part. Each part usually has an original part number and an alternative part number. You can use either number. Now, when you know the part number, you can start searching for the best price.
2. Fining inexpensive parts.
First of all, try searching here. You can find a very inexpensive brand new part. If there are no new parts, you can buy a used one. If you cannot find this part on eBay, try searching by the part number on Google. Most likely the search will bring you many results and you will find what you are looking for.
Finally, when you receive the part, you can use laptop service manuals to install it.

To fcuk…found that this website is quite useful. If you run a scan which they offer on the homepage of the site it will detect the computer being scanned and then offer you the possible memory uspgrades for the computer. Here is the site: http://www.crucial.com
As far as the amount of MB that each memory has it should total the amount, it is only the speed that is reduced if one is at 333MHz and the other is 266MHz then both modules will run at 266MHz

Yes, you can do that, just make sure the second module is also PC2700 as the first one.
Don’t think about these numbers. All you need as a 512MB PC2700 memory module for laptops (200 pin module).

CAN YOU GO HIGHER IN SIZE LEAVE ONE MODULE AT 256MB AND ADD A SECOND ONE AT 512MB OR HIGHER PROVIDING IT HAS SAME SPEED AND SD DIMM 200 PIN
ALSO WHAT IS MEMORY TYPE 2,5-3-4-7 is that what has to match OR MAYBE SOMEONE OUT THERE JUST WANTS TO GIVE ME A REAL LAPTOP INSTEAD! lol

will someone answer a few questions, please my wife has a dell inspiron 1000 and i want to fill the empty memory slot currently she has 256 MB dell man# is snp6g648c/256 dell’s part # is a0743797 256 MB, DRAM, DDR SDRAM, SD DIMM 200 Pin, 32×64 this is per dell.com
they say it is not in stock but I found other dell part numbers with the same specs A0743797, A0743858, A0743550 all these have same specs as above ARE THEY? Secondly if I have 256MB does that mean I can not install anything else in spare slot in a dell 1000 the first memory module is hard wired so if it is DRAM DDR SDRAM SD DIMM 200 Pin 333MHz (PC2700) 32×64 256MB will using the same as above but 512MB would that work, if so would it use it all or just 256MB
I am tired and just hoping someone out there knows what I am asking
