   What a great site. I think in this site component level of Mother Board and other parts repairing technique should be added. So that it can be unique amongst the internet.

   Most guides on this site designed for a regular user not ready for component level motherboard repairs.
   By the way, I don’t do component level repair either.

   I had a laptop with failed LCD screen.
   One of your guides helped me to find out what is wrong.
   Actually, it wasn the screen but the motherboard failure.
   I didn’t repair the laptop, just bought a new one but your guide helped me to safe some money on diganostics in a local laptop repair shop.

   my acer travelmate 2300 laptop will not power on unless the battery is fully charged and will take
   4 or more attempts

   Just search for a local laptop repair shop on google. Call them and ask how much they charge for liquid spill diagnostics. Usually it’s not cheap because in most cases the entire laptop has to be disassembled.

   I don’t think this is battery related problem. Will it power up when the battery removed?
   If not, test the AC adapter. Make sure the adapter works properly.

   Can you connect to the Internet at all?
   Also, try booting your PC from a live Linux CD (Ubuntu, Knoppix, etc…) Test RJ45 connection in Linux.
   If it works in Linux but fails in Windows, this is software related problem. Try reinstalling Windows.

    hai…i m having a problem vit my compaq presario laptop…when on the laptop…itds hang at the compaq logo..i change the hard drive…but still same…alos i try to remove the bios battery…but still same…

    Cannot tell what is wrong without testing the laptop.
    Try removing some laptop parts and see if it fixes the problem.

    Hi great website can you help I turned on my 16 month old toshiba
    Laptop satellite A350D-203 model no PSALEE-00H001EN started to boot up as I had not used it for over 6weeks it gathered dust and my house was damp I wiped my key board and accidently pressed some keys during the boot up operation the screen went dead Iswitched off everything and tried to boot up by pressing F8 key to bring up the bios still nothing on screen not booting up fan comes on straigtaway AC/DC is charging ok its still very new gets little use not a good techy person help thanking you

    Try this. Turn on the laptop. Hold down the Fn key and at the same time press F5 key. This key combination switches video between internal and external screens. Maybe you accidentally switched video to the external mode. Does it help?

    And it starts again if you let it cool down, correct?
    Sounds like oveheating problem. Check the heatsink. Most likely it’s clogged with dust. Clean the heatsink and test the laptop again.
