Have a problem with a ACER TravelMate 2300. System boots up goes into windows XP and then freezes after 5 mins of use or shuts down right away. Dont know if it is over heating however the fan is working fine and I cleaned the heatsink. After it freezes/shutsdown I can almost never get it to turn back on right away unless I wait 5 -10 mins.
Any suggestions would be great!

Hi!!!
I have a notebook acer aspire 1800.
I have a problem. When i connect the a/c coord the notebook start to beeps. and flash the light. When i unplugged the notebook, the beeps stop. Can anybody help me?

Hey ryanexec,
I am not familiar with this model at all and cannot translate the code (green to amber). May be it is just a coincidence that your laptop stopped working after you left it by the sub-woofer. Try to remove parts like hard drive, dvd drive, wireless card, etc. one by one and see if you can get a video. I would also try to connect an external monitor to see if you can get the external video. Try to reseat (or replace if you can) the memory stick. Sometimes a failing memory stick can cause the problem you described.

acer ferrari 3200: powers on, spins HD & DVD, monitor remains unlit, no beeps or sounds, seems as if it doesnt make it through the POST, or even into or out of the BIOS boot. computer was left near a small, possibly unshielded 220 watt sub-woofer for about 24 hours or more. i fear that scrambled the ROM. the power LED cycles from green to amber continuously. any other ideas on what might have happened, or if its a scrambled ROM, is there any solution im unaware of that can resuscitate my machine…or am i correct to assume that scrambled ROM = dead board = lost hope = many tears = new laptop?!

Unfortunately, the PDF for the Acer Aspire 3000 is only chapter 6 of the service guide – the FRU parts list.
If anybody can find the complete manual – or at least the chapter on actual dissassembly – I would much appreciate it!
