If you are looking for Acer laptop service manuals, you can download it here. Some laptop service manuals have multiple parts. To use the manual, download all parts to your hard drive and then extract them with WinRar archiver.

UPDATE: The site I was linking too removed all Acer manuals. I’m not sure if they will start sharing them again. I’ll keep this post alive because there are a lot of useful tips in the comments.

Hello there,
I wrote back in March 29th asking about how to remove the hard drive on a travelmate 2100. I found out later that you don´t answer questions regarding acer laptops (so, sorry about that).
Anyway, it turns out, to remove the hard drive you just need to take out the battery and pull on the little plastic tab that you see in the middle.
I had to take apart the whole laptop to find this out, ’cause I didn’t want to pull too hard before I knew what it was for. I just thought this may be useful for someone else in the same situation.
Cheers

jo corrigan,
It’s hard to guess what is wrong at this point. It could be either software or hardware related issue. Can you start the laptop from a bootable CD or DVD disk (recovery disk for example)? Does the drive recognize this disk at all?
I do not troubleshoot software issues because it might takes hours to figure out what is wrong. In cases like this I reinstall the operating system from scratch and if the same problem appears again even with a new software load, it’s a hardware related issue, probably a faulty CD/DVD drive.

David,
Just recently I purchased a new LCD screen for an Acer Aspire laptop from agpartsworldwide and was very please with their service. It’s not the first LCD I’m buying from them. Contact them and see if you can get help.

Peter,
I would run the memory test first (when you can start the laptop). Very often this problem is caused by a faulty memory module. If you have two memory modules, remove them one by one. Test the laptop with only one memory stick in place.
Also test the laptop with both memory stick in the slot A and then in the slot B. If the laptop works fine with both RAM modules installed in the slot A but freezes when they are installed in the slot B, you might have a faulty memory slot. One guy suggested cleaning the contacts inside the memory slot with an alcohol wipe, of course when the AC adapter is unplugged and battery is removed.

I have an Acer Aspire 1642wmli and I’ve broken my LCD screen. I can replace it myself but am having a hard time finding a dealer to sell me one.
Does anyone have recommendations? Thanks.

I have acer aspire 1800 wtih ATI X600 128 MB graphics card. My laptop is not booting the screen is completely blank. Sometimes after few days it boots up and everything seems okay and then suddenly the screen freezes and on reboot the screen stays blank.
Do you have any suggestions

Adrian,
Minimize the system. Unplug the LCD from the motherboard. Remove all components (battery, DVD drive, wireless card, hard drive, etc…) and leave only three main components: motherboard (with video card if it’s not integrated), CPU and known good memory module. Test the laptop with an external monitor. If the laptop still shuts down, it’s likely that you have a bad motherboard.

I have an ACER aspire 1670. When I switch it on it powers up for a couple of seconds and then turns itself off again. All the fans start up and the hard drive and the screen flickers a few times before turning off. I’ve tried removing various components (hard disk, dvd drive, ram etc) and nothing has helped. I’ve checked the connectors to the display which seem to seated correctly. I’ve also tried hooking it up to an external monitor with no luck. Any idea what may be causing this?
Any help appreciated. Thanks.
