Here are some troubleshooting steps.
Find or make a bootable DVD disc, you can download and burn Knoppix Linux or use any other bootable DVD disc.
Try booting the laptop from this disc.
If the laptop boots from the disc but you cannot access it in Windows, you might have software related problem. Reinstall Windows.
If the laptop doesn’t recognize this disc even when you try booting from it, you might have a bad DVD drive. You’ll have to replace the drive in this case.

Can you remove the battery and try turning on the laptop just from the AC power? Can you start the laptop from AC power without the battery installed?

Hello,
I have an Acer 2702 Wlmi and not sure what the problem it with it….It started when my wife thought she switched it off but closed the lid too soon and it went into hibernation, 3 weeks later it comes out of its case and it switches on and gives the finall “battery dead” beeps. I plug in the power cable and the light on the front turns reddy orange and flashes on/off. I bought a new battery and when I fitted it and turn it on I get an error message telling me its the incorrect battery please insert proper one system is now going into hibernation mode. I sent that batery back and told them and got a refund. I then ordered a new one from acer and get the same thing. Any ideas?

i have aspire 3630 and its turning on fine. its as if brightness is turned away down but i have tried turning it back up using controls on keyboard but makes no difference. You can still just about make out the windows desktop but not able to use it. Any ideas whats up ?
