If the hard dive is the first device in the boot order (like in your case) but you still getting the same error message on startup MEDIA TEST FAILURE,CHECK CABLE.EXITING PXE ROM.OPERATING SYSTEN NOT FOUND it could be related to:
1. Corrupted operating system. In this case try reinstalling OS.
2. Failed hard dive. First, test the hard dive with Hitachi’s drive fitness test to make sure it’s bad and then replace the hard drive.
3. The worst case scenario. There is nothing wrong with the hard drive and there is a problem with the controller on the motherboard. In this case you’ll have to replace the whole motherboard.

i went to the boot menu and got

Looks like your laptop is trying to boot from LAN because for some reason it doesn’t detect the hard drive. Most likely the hard drive is bad and has to be replaced.
1. Enter the BIOS setup menu. Find out if the hard drive is detected by the BIOS. Make sure the hard drive is the first device in the boot order.
2. You can test the hard drive with Hitachi’s drive fitness test utility (link in Resources).
3. Try reconnecting the hard drive. Just unplug it from the motherboard and plug it back in. It’s possible that the hard drive got disconnected from the motherboard.
From my experience, if the laptop worked fine and then suddenly you see this message:
MEDIA TEST FAILURE,CHECK CABLE.EXITING PXE ROM.OPERATING SYSTEN NOT FOUND
either the OS has been corrupted or you have the hard drive failure.

i have a problem.my Acer Aspire 3600 laptop wont work.ir loads up the acer logo then it says

plez help i have ACER Ferrari 3400
now it not working -
fan oky – dvd oky (in / out) but nothing on display
i remove battery and use power adpter only it’s start directly whitout i press any thing and nothing apper on display (tft) and 2 lamp umlock and caps lock light all time . i asck how can i clear c mos (bios) or any help ?

My acer travelmate wont charge the battery, i bought a new battery thinking the old battery must be finished but i still have the same problem, the led light comes on to say the battery is being charged but still not charging one bit. The battery is securely fixed. anyone help?
