If you are looking for Acer laptop service manuals, you can download it here. Some laptop service manuals have multiple parts. To use the manual, download all parts to your hard drive and then extract them with WinRar archiver.
You’ll find service manuals and FRU documentation for the following laptops:

UPDATE: The site I was linking to removed all Acer manuals. I’m not sure if they will start sharing them again. I’ll keep this post alive because there are a lot of useful tips in the comments.

Alright, so I could read through all these comments to see if anyone else is having this problem, but that would take forever. So please excuse me if this has been asked before..
I have an Acer Aspire 3680. I keep it on my desk plugged in 24/7, as if it’s a desktop computer and it’s usually always on. I just leave whatever I’m doing up, and then lock it so that you need a password to get back on so my little brother doesn’t mess with it.
I never had a problem. Occasionally when it needed Windows updates it would shut down, but lately, it has been shutting down all by itself, all the time. Like it runs for a couple hours max and then just powers down. And twice now, it’s done it when I’m sitting here browsing the internet or something. The screen just goes black and everything turns off. Then when I turn it back down, it tells me that it was an improper shut down.
I don’t know what is going on. I thought maybe I accidentally changed the settings, telling it to shut down within a set of amount of time, but no, the settings still say “shut down – never.” And I thought perhaps it was my AVG Anti-Virus, but I’m doubting that now too. Is it overheating? Do I have a virus? Is it my power cord, even though it shows that my battery is full? Or is this a common problem?
I’m just scared that I’ll be typing a paper for school and lose everything. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Followup to the post above. I see the few Acers that are designated above these posts, but the majority are pretty old. Was wondering if you had some more recent Acer models.
Thanks again

CJ,
I help out over at the Toshiba Notebook forum and love your disassembly list for Toshiba notebooks. Just curious if you might have something in Acer disassemblies. I recently bought a new Acer laptop and am now helping on the Acer forum and have quite a few questions about disassemblies.
Thanks

I have an Acer Aspire 3500, when you press the power on, the battery light flashes 8 times and then nothing else happens, any ideas.

I removed both the memory modules and I found that when I tested both that they are both bad. Now I think I have to buy 2 new memory thingies but its expensive for me! £48. Will mean 2 weeks without money to live on. Its now not even booting up. Just turns on for a little while then shuts off.

jennyward,
Try removing this memory module and test the laptop again. It can be memory related problem.

Argh. Its done it again. I had a good 2 and a half hours and then the horizontal lines started. The screen froze like before and im back to where I started. All the boards are connected properly. Stuck on power saving mode

no worries. i had a look underneath and i found that one of the boards wasn’t connected properly. i can’t believe how easy it was to fix! and free!

I have no idea how to do that. Where would the memory module be?
