If you are looking for Acer laptop service manuals, you can download it here. Some laptop service manuals have multiple parts. To use the manual, download all parts to your hard drive and then extract them with WinRar archiver.
You’ll find service manuals and FRU documentation for the following laptops:

UPDATE: The site I was linking to removed all Acer manuals. I’m not sure if they will start sharing them again. I’ll keep this post alive because there are a lot of useful tips in the comments.

Hi,
To make a long story short, I’ve just purchased acer aspire 7720G. Today, My touch pad icon mysteriously disappeared from the taskbar. My middle scroll button has gone completely useless, and I cannot edit it from Control panel, or find it on start menu. How can I retrieve the Icon or Adjust the touchpad settings without it?
Your time and effort are much appreciated.

Hi, i have an Acer aspire 5100 with dual core 1.6 cpu (laptop not working) and an Acer aspire 5100 single core 2.0ghz cpu (working), the question is can i put the dual core straight into the single core without any problems also would it be worth doing it?
Thanks

markus,
They might have shorted something inside the slot.
When I’m not sure what’s causing the problem I’m doing the following.
Disassemble the laptop as much as you can. Leave only most important components: motherboard, CPU with the cooling module and memory . I assume the video card is integrated into the motherboard. When you have the bare bone system, you still should be able to start it with an external monitor and get at least the logo on the screen. If still nothing and you are using a known good memory, there must be a problem with the motherboard or CPU. CPU failures are not common at all, so it must be a bad motherboard.

Also when i purchased this (2nd hand, about 3 weeks ago0 i noticed that someone must have had a memory card stuck in the reader at some point as it looks like they have hacked away inside it with a screwdriver! Would this cause my problem?

Markus,
Did you try removing memory chips one by one and testing the laptop with each one separately in different slots? It’s possible one of the memory chips failed and simple reseating them will not help.

Hi, i have an acer aspire 1670 it is running vista, it was recently updating when it froze, i had to switch it off, now it won’t come back on! the power comes on (fans, lights, hhd flashes once) oddly the wifi and bluetooth lights are on but nothing on the screen. i have tried swapping and resitting the ram chips, checking all internal cables, cleaning out the fans and removing the usual parts one at a time.
Please Please has anyone got any ideas (apaart from a new motherboard)
